I have a file on my desktop that I can't delete. When I try to delete it, I get the following error message.

Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

It is nested inside a folder. If I try to delete the folder itself, I get the same error message.

Strange thing--I can rename the folder (but not the file itself).

    Any suggestions?

    Have you scanned for malware?

You can try it safe mode. Or MoveOnBoot will let you tag the file (or folder) then delete it early-on during the next boot cycle, before Windows or any application can set hooks in it.

Move on boot did it. Thanks. Easy install, chose teh Delete on Boot option, worked fine. I have the installation file, although I went ahead and deleted the program, so it wouldn't cause any interruptions with the normal bootup process. Definitely a keeper!
