    sunflowersusie Welcome to the Board!

Is the problem new, showing up just in the past day or two, or has it being going on awhile?

Do you have an anti-virus program and is it up to date? If so, run it and see if it finds something that's causing your problem.

What kinds of files and programs are disappearing? That could provide a clue, too.

Get back to us, and we'll try to figure out what to do next. Good luck.

Backweb is spyware that comes preinstalled on a lot of HP systems. You can get rid of it with Spybot. My mom recently bought a new HP and I could not believe the spyware built into the system. It was booting with 40 processes running. I think HP preys on the inexperienced user that just wants to plug it in and go...but that can be the subject of another thread.

BTW, if you don't know what something is, run a google search. Most of the time you can identify it immediately.
