I'm from Texas but don't hold that against me. My background is instrumentation which probably explains why I have to fix things all the time. Now I am looking for help recognizing things I can and mustn't remove from my computer to help it run as well as it can. It isn't new and I bought it used but it has worked really hard for the whole family and continues to do so.

I use Avast, Spyware Terminator, CCleaner, AusLogics Disk Defrag, Registry Mechanic, and Advanced WindowsCare V2 Personal for protection and maintenance.

I have DSL through the broad vision of my little small town phone company that invested in fiber optic main lines.

I'll answer questions as I'm trying to keep this short. I'm looking forward to getting some answers to some probably dumb questions. I'm not really "nerdy" but have to fix things and fine tune them.

Thank you for the welcome but I'm confused...where did I ask any questions? I have posted a question in another forum for windows xp but here I thought I was giving some background on myself and why I am here. Sorry if I didn't post properly I thought I did.

Oh, that was just an idea of why I'm here. It's what I'm usually asking about, what's this or that file and do I need it, is this a good or bad thing, those sorts of "dumb" questions. As you say, No biggie! I usually give too much or not enough info. Comes from dealing with kids and engineers. But I get them mixed up!
