    GBF435 here.
I am an old timer from 1939 (grin). Spent most of my working days in the printing trade (production - got my hands into all aspects of printing during those years), spent most of the past 40 years working nights with newspapers making pictures, text, plates for the final product. Just like computers everything changed almost every 5 years like clockwork.
My first computer was a used IBM PC that had originally been purchased with 2-180K floppy drives and 64K on the motherboard. Over a period of time I upgraded it to a 448K machine with 1-360K drive and 1-720K floppy. Also put a 10 meg HD into the machine. Yes it still works. Memory chips were bought single and you need a row of 9 to make 64K.
Without the help of BBS's I wouldn't have been able to go from one level to the next. Started out with DOS 2.1 and now have XP plus there have been many system that I have gone through. I classify myself as an intermediate because it's easier to use someone else's software than try and write your own programs.
Spent a couple years in the US Navy as a photographer and used that technology in the printing trade (newspapers) in compiling pages and plates for the press.
I have a family and the 2 children are computer literate and the youngest has a blackberry and bluetooth. I am also deaf but have a cochlear implant that allows me to hear somewhat. Watching TV I plug the sound into my speach processor to get most of the spoken words and yes I can also enjoy music with the device.
Thank you for having this BBS site, years ago it was Procomm Plus that gave me communication with the outside world and learing about computing.
    Regards,
    GEO435 :)
I am a bit confused here, don't know if the Icon I pulled will go along with the text. Also not familiar with Trackbacks-URLs.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS!

It's always amazing to see how computers started out & where they are today :D

I remember my first Atari, state of the art with 1MB memory and a 1.44MB 3.5" floppy drive. I was the king. Most of my friends where still using (cassette) tape-driven with 64KB memory.
