    Hi there!

computer booted up o.k. when trying to access e-mail something about the sasser worm came on (this is second hand information) the person tried the fix for the sasser worm and what resulted was: now it boots up to the xp home edition screen and then the screen goes a greenish color and a white arrow that can not be moved by the mouse. The only way you can close the computer is by holding in the on/off button for a couple of seconds or unplug it. I tried F8 - as well as safe mode and in the safe mode only "safe mode" is written across the top. I downloaded xp - home boot up and setup disks. The boot up was fine but the second disk displayed an error #7 (?). So......anyone have any comments, suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Amiga

    Welcome to the board amiga
Do you have the XP-Home CD? Chances are you're going to need it. Are you wanting to re-install XP or fix it?

    amiga,

The operating system most likely has been damaged by at least one infection, and probably more. If you have a recovery disk for this computer, now is the time to use it. If you have a windows CD, so much the better. We need to know what computer you're talking about and how many partitions (= drives) it contains. Also which version of windows, and any other information, such as type of web connection, firewall, antivirus, spyware etc. may be on the computer, because you'll be advised to upgrade/install such items.

Your post may be moved to the security / virus / spyware forum.
