I just tried to connect a new Blue-Ray player to my old Sony big flat screen TV and found that the HDMI cable was a slightly different shape, though the same size. What is the terminology for the origional HDMI and the new HDMI so I can try to find some kind of adapter. TIA

    Please ignore this thread

    Hi,

I totally blew this. The new cable looked different but is a type A HDMI and when I pushed a little harder, actually fit fine. Sorry,

    Dennis

That's actually one of the complaints about HDMI - the connections are not secured tight in place with thumb screws. But adding screws would nearly double the connector size - defeating one of HDMI's primary advantages.

I am glad you got it sorted out and thanks for posting the followup.
