I have a special needs client, that passed away and a few days back the parents found/discovered an older IBM notebook a 310ed, it is dead in the water, and i have been trying to help them retrieve a book/novel of his life/times on this machine but the plugs on this HDD are not standard, smaller than the current notebook HDD's. I have all the recovery software to attempt to retrieve this info, just need power, the MB is gone in the notebook, the battery leaked and well it's history
Question: is there an adapter available to retrieve this info from the older HDD, so it can be powered up by a newer plugin.
They are short on funds and I was attempting to do this as a favor, since they have no clue what is really on the machine, but thats what they purchased it for shortly before his death.
Thanks for your help in advance

The drive is most likely an IBM Travelstar. If you can get the model info from the drive nameplate, go to this page.

Table of IBM hard disk drives

Look up your model number, and click on the link for the model. This will bring up a page for the specific drive, with links to Data sheet and specifications, Jumpers and configuration, Electrical interface specifications and Mechanical data.
