I've just completed a new computer build and powred it up last night for the first time. All is well except a new empty WD 1TB Caviar Black SATA drive does not show up in Windows Explorer.

It shows in the BIOS and in Device Manager. Is this a configuration problem?

For the record, the computer build is as follows:

    ASUS P8Z68-v LX mobo
    Intel core i5 2500K
    4 GB memory
    C:\ OCZ 60GB SSD
    D:\ HP 1260i DVD multidrive
E:\ WD 500GB SATA, this was in my old machine
WD 1TB Caviar Black SATA HDD, which should be F:\

I should note that this is a 32 bit installation.

Should I just reinstall Win7? or is there another way to resolve this?

Start Disk Management (type Disk Management in your Start menu Search programs and files box, then press OK).

Find the drive in Disk Management, you'll probably have to initialize the disk.

The disk will show as an Unknown Disk in Disk Management. Right-click the Tile listing the Unknown disk, and from the menu select Initialize Disk.

I was able to resolve my issue by following the instructions in post #2. When I entered Disk Management the disk in question had not been initialized. After initialization the disk appeared in Windows Explorer.
