Not knowing how else to lable this, the problems are, Screen saver will not continoue to work, power management as well (turning off monitor and shutting down HD) and my mouse won't single click like I want for very long. I'm using 98SE.

Hi The Bubba, Not sure I understood all your problems.
Maybe your PC needs a new battery ? Is the PC old ? Error messages ?
What is it with the mouse ? What port ? Wireless ?
On the other hand, your PC needs maybe a good clean out.
What do you have to clean-up your disk/s and registry ?
We need a bit more info from you.
    regards

My computer is a 99 model, it's fairly clean. The computer doesn't have a battery that I know of. I have an optical mouse(not wireless) but had the same symtoms with a regular ball type mouse. I use adaware and have used regclean. After programing my computer (or mouse) to single click, shut down the hard drive and monitor after 5 minutes of non use and for the screen saver to begin after a few minutes, the computer and mouse will abide by my commands but discontinue performing said commands after a while.

Have you tried turning off all power management ?
If so, do the problems persist ?

It should have one on the Motherboard to keep the BIOS.

If it should happen to be bad the BIOS will not hold is settings.

I doubt that is the problem though.

Try shutting down various things that may be loading at startup.

    I 2nd that as a start.

We were referring to Control Panel/Power Manager, not the Start Menu.

    Hmmm

You might also want to check START~SETTINGS~CONTROL PANEL~MOUSE and check your settings in mouse properties for your mouse settings

I've already checked my mouse settings and power management settings before I posted this topic. My mouse will respond properly as I ask it to for a while then reverts back to double click. My monitor control and screen saver finally started working but for how long I don't know.

Let me suggest a really good clean up. Restart in Dos Mode, and do these commands.
    smartdrv
    deltree c:\windows\cookies
    deltree c:\windows\history
    deltree c:\windows\temp
    deltree c:\windows\tempor~1
    deltree c:\windows\*.tmp
    deltree c:\windows\*.pwl
    deltree c:\windows\shelli*
    deltree c:\windows\win386.swp
    scanreg /opt
    scanreg /fix

Type a Y that you want to delete, check for typos at this time.
When you get the message that 'Windows has repaired your registry', reboot. Everything deleted will be rebuilt upon startup, just click Ok on the login window that will appear.
