hi guyz...got a problem here involving MSN messenger.

What it is, is that i have got hold of MSN 6. I have been running MSN 4.6 for a while now, so I decided to try the newer version. I install MSN 6, but when I go to login it comes up with "cant connect. please check ur internet onnection and make sure ur connected "

So i tried allsorts, from restarting, wiping it, re-installing it. I even tried going from 4.6 to 5, then to 6, but even 5 DIDNT LOGIN!

    Im running a P3 500mhz machine, 2 SCSI hardrives, 256mb RAM.

I have not got any updates for windows 2000 installed.

My internet connection is a standard 56k connection with an external V.90 serial port modem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

MSN 6? That is not available yet for release. Sounds like you shot yourself in the foot. :p

You will have to do some serious hand pruning from your program files and registry.

Ah, I have a copy too but have yet to try it. It's not officially release though. It's just a beta version that was leaked into cyberspace :p

Everything worked fine for me. However, I did have minor problems with my firewall trying to detect it - this was with Norton Personal Firewall.

I noticed you didn't confirm whether you had one installed so perhaps this is the problem. I decided to use Zone Alarm instead because NPF was conjuring up problems with the Supervisor password etc. and I couldn't be bothered with it anymore. As soon as I installed the software, it detected Messenger trying to access the internet.

Had no problems at all with mine like. ;)

For the people that have not heard about it, you can add your own avatar type of thing for message windows, make your own emoticons, add your own background, wider variety of emoticons.

    A very impressive update. :)
