Hi - I just updated to Firefox 5.0 last week and already I am getting an offer to update to 6.0. I never like to update to the latest version of anything until I read that others are running that version and everything is OK.

I do not find any information on FF 6.0 so my question is......is anyone running 6.0 and how is it working?

    TIA

Hi Ann, I have updated to FF 6.0 on both my XP desktop and Win 7 laptop. No problems so far (about 1 week).

Firefox has begun fast release, so that updates which were decimal, are now one full unit.
You can find what is different from the previous version by looking at the Release Notes (often under Help, if not by doing a simple search). And, don't be surprised if a v.7 is going to appear soon. I am using v.7 beta1, and I like it. You will have to get used to this fast release which apes Google Chrome.

No problems here also as far as main FF6 is concerned. Its the addons that are the problems.

    Thanks to all.

Fast release will certainly take a bit of getting used to, especially for me, who hates to update.

When I updated to FF 5 my addons just disappeared, except for WOT and NoScript. I guess I will have to go along and get updated. [:(]

You don't have to! And, there is no law which forces you to keep the default settings.
In Tools|Options|Advanced|Update you are given the option to not allow Firefox to update itself, or even to uncheck Firefox to automatically check for updates. I am using 3.6.20, and I am not bugged to update to 5, 7 or whatever. Or, I may wish to know what's out there, and ignore it. Take charge of your computer!

To be honest I'm half with westside and SpywareDr here. And as rsinfo posted Addons can be a big headache (it really depends on how much you rely on them).

Fixes for addons can be suggested (though with no guarantees) if they are no longer supported. Regarding security you should have that covered already no matter what browser you are using (unfortunately most don't :().

If you are confident with your security measures and have no need for additional features then there is no real harm to leave an update for a month or two but I wouldn't leave it too long.

After saying that I've been using FF6.0 for a week or so with no issues.

I updated to FF 6.0.1 this morning, and have encountered NO problems, not even with the 17 extensions I use on a daily basis.
