Have BEFSR41 router, of which is a 4 porter..and it's working fine connected to my Win2000 machine. I use Bellsouth DSL...

    The Problem..!!
I wanted to connect a new computer running XP home, I installed a NIC card (no problems)...so i run a regular patch-cable, re-boot and get nothing but page fault.
I opened up tools and thought i'd run the connection setup for LAN for auto-config but it's not there.:-(

The only thing i can get is a setup to select a dial-up service like MSN to get on the internet...bummer.

Note: i connected a friends w98 up one time a few weeks back and IE poped up to the net --- no problem.....wierd huh!!!

Is there something about XP Home version that i should know about..??

XP home or Pro shouldn't give you errors if it can't find a network. It should simply assign a bogus set of IP values and appear to run normally. Not connect to anything but not error out on you. So something ain't right at all. And lots of page faults makes me suspect the NIC or it's drivers.

You said, "I opened up tools and thought i'd run the connection setup for LAN for auto-config but it's not there.:-( ". Could you explain that one in more detail?
