    Hi Stuartjm!

The long answer is Yes and the short answer is No, both are valid.

The WinXP install-CD contains applications to partition and format a harddisk. It is part of the actual installation and the system partition gets formated before the installation begins.

All other partitions get formated from within WinXP but once created during the installation these partitions can´t be altered from within WinXP.

    Regards,
    Christer

To partition post install in XP you will have to use a programme like Partition Magic 8.x (not sure if 7.x works under XP?) Have used partition Magic a couple of times, works a treat!

PM5 will work if you use it from the floppys and do not use NTFS.

Partition Magic 7 will work with XP. That was the first version that was XP compatible. Partition Magic 8 is the current version.
