I had a series of viruses and after all were cleared, I kept getting an opening message of having new hardware, Network Controller and it would search and could not find it and then a box would open lower right and say your hardware may not work right, etc. What is it and what can I do about it to get it back? I am fair with computers but this one stumps me. There are some strange things from the web, but generally speaking the computer works reasonably well. XP+SP

I would remove the device from device manager and reboot.

Thanks for replying; appreciate it. I don't have a "delete ", but only a "disable." Rebooting simply ignored it as it was disabled. It apparently is asking for something I have no knowledge of, a driver for it. Says the NC is not working, but does not say what it is or where the driver would be located, or even what the NC is. I am not even sure what it is for. Hate to say this, but it "does not compute. "

Is there an ! mark on a yellow ground set against any of your Network Adaptors? If so that is what requires a driver - the model no. etc should be listed under Network Adaptors - Google for a driver.

If there is a similar ! mark against Unknown Device this program may help to identify it .....

I finally was able to find a driver and still do not know if everything is right. I thank y'all for your help. There is no further yellow! mark so I guess it is okay.
