Really disappointed so far! All my hardware worked correctly in all the betas and the RC but with a clean install of Home Premium the SoundMax card has not been found, so no sound, and my Sata DVD drive is not found so is not usable.
During the other installs Windows found and installed all the required drivers, but this time I had to search for printer and scanner drivers. If the hardware is not found by the OS obviously drivers cannot be installed so am stumped at the moment!

Hi Roger, this sounds as if something is amiss, I use AMD 4000+ at the moment I also have SATA DVD drive and a Audio Max sound card and my Win 7 installed them without any problems at all, DVD is working, sound is working.
Have you installed the Motherboard drivers after loading Win 7. In regards to Printer and Scanner drivers I personally prefer to install the drivers off the supplier CD then check for updates at the manufacturers website if there are any problems, if not I stick with the originals.

    Hi Hawk,
I wish it was that simple! Although all the betas and the RC were problem free for me this Home Premium is shaping up to be a disaster, and if I don't get a helpful response from Microsoft 7 support I shall have to try another install. Judging from the posts on the Windows 7 Help forums HERE these are pretty widespread problems, and I'm pretty sure that MS will want to jump on them rapidly.
Windows 7 spits out the mobo CD - 'Not for this OS!' so no help there. The problem seems to be that 7 is just not seeing the hardware, and until it does it will not be possible to install drivers.

Asus told me that my Asus notebook machines and desktop graphic cards do not and will not have 64-bit drivers. How much is the chance of running the existing Vista 32-bit graphics card and WiFi drivers on 64-bit Windows 7? In particular the ATI Rodeon X2300.

    Hi Hawk

Just an update. I finally got the sound driver installed - by sheer persistance! On the third attempt, running as administrator, and using XP compatibility. Go figure!
The other problem is that 7 will not allow me to install the Via 4 in 1 drivers, which include the SATA drivers. After several emails to and from Microsoft Support I have succeeded in getting the problem passed on to MS Engineering, and am waiting their response.
It was made difficult by the poor layout of the Via driver database but I have managed to find the Via Hyperion drivers for Vista but I am not going to try installing them until I hear from MS.

Thanks Tigerbright. I'll try it when I'm ready for the move.
