I have a CD with a file extension (hta). CD says use quicktime, CD will not open with any player. Have tried several different computers with different systems to try to play CD, but none work. This is a supposed valid CD from a university for online classes, Any help or knowledge.

HTA file is a Microsoft HTML Application. It is an user interface markup language originated by Microsoft. It is an executable file that contains hypertext code, it could be infected by viruses, trojan horses, exploits. Use anti-virus software for example BitDefender to control files with .hta file extension.

    Open HTA files on Windows

    •Microsoft Internet Explorer
    •Microsoft HTML Application Host (mshta.exe)
    •Adobe ExtendScript
    •Adobe Dreamweaver
•Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection
    •Mozilla Firefox 3.5

What does the UNI say when you talk to them? And or is XP mode not good enough?
