    and wer 229a\dir 00\sysdata.xml
It was shut off for a week or so and did load windows today, but went blank after about mayb 5-10 mins...no sound either which has been a prob in the past also, I reinstalled the correct drvr last time I was there, its my sister's PC, but now she says it's gone again. They just replaced the motherboard.

    Hey Juey

The beep sounds like BIOS incident.

But the no signal means the monitor can not detect the Video card. Which would occur if the cpu went down.

When you get No Signal do you hear the CPU sill running, are the lights HD etc still on?

Remove the case. Reseat the video adapter if it is not built into the motherboard.

When removing the monitor cable see if it was loose then check for bent or damaged pins. With case off plug up everything and turn on and see if all case and cpu cooling fans are running.

After you do this try to boot to safe mode.

There are many things we can do in safe mode but all we want to do now is let set and run for a while to see if it cuts of when it gets hot.

    Grt back.

    Mike

    Hi juey,

Just to confirm, it mostly starts up with a blank screen and gives repeated long beeps, sometimes it will boot to Windows, but will eventually BSOD.

If it starts with a blank screen and beeps there is a basic hardware problem.

Check all the fans are spinning freely (don't forget to check the PSU). Was a good layer of thermal paste used when the CPU heatsink was reinstalled on the new motherboard?

Remove the RAM stick/s and clean the connectors with a soft pencil eraser. Same with the graphics card if it is an add-in type. Read the motherboard manual for how the RAM modules should be arranged in the slots. If there is more than one RAM module, just use one for troubleshooting. If it only has one RAM module, look at borrowing another to try.

I saw one "long beep" problem resolved with a new PSU. Is the PSU "big" enough? Use the power calculator and compare to the rating on the label:
    http://www.journeysystems.com/power_supply_calculator.php
If there did not seem to be a specific reason for replacing the motherboard, I would wonder about the PSU.

If there were problems with the old mobo and now problems with the new one, there would seem to be a common factor. Remove/disconnect all added hardware and see if it becomes stable.

It doesn't appear to be a Windows problem, but was the system "migrated" to the new motherboard correctly?

Were the chipset drivers installed from the motherboard CD (and graphics from the graphics card CD)?
