I recently install hard drive temperature monitoring software. I have two drives. The software tells me that my master drive temperature gets as high as 118F. While my slave drive never moves off 32F. It is obvious to me that the slave temperature is not correct or working. However, the master temperature seems to be working. My question is this. Is a temperature of 118F to high for this master drive? Anyone have any thoughts?

Usually the max. operating temp for a HDD is 55C / 131F. Check with the manufacturer.

The new 7200rpm drives run alot hotter than the older 5400rpm ones did. I had to separate the 2 drives by a drive space because of the heat problem and add a rear exhaust case fan which I never used before. And I don't overclock!
