    Hi javipfca
It may be very difficult to do. Even using something such as Norton Ghost. Unless both computers are identical?

It would have to be an exactly identical computer, all the way down to the internal ID number on the Main Processing Chip. Not likely. Part of XP's anti piracy End User License Agreement.

    It's not that difficult.
XP allows certain hardware changes without needing reactivation.
I've moved XP drives, and some are as simple as swapping the drive, others take some work.
Here's what I've found that works best:
    Restart in Safe Mode.
Remove everything from device mangler, leaving the keyboard and mouse for last.
Move the drive, and start the computer.
At best, it will boot, and find new hardware, and attempt to install drivers.
    At worst, it won't boot.
If it doesn't boot, change the boot sequence in BIOS to the CD-ROM first, put in the XP CD.
Restart the computer, start as if you were doing a new install of Windows, bypass the first screen asking if you want to run the "Repair Console ".
Hit F8 to agree to the TOS.
The next screen will prompt you to repair a current installation of windows.
Make sure that it's highlighted, and hit "R ".
Let it run, have your CD key handy, and it should all work.

    Hi, Reboot ~

Isn't this just moving the HD rather than copying it?

OK, if it's a copy you want, that's simple too.
Move the drive with the stuff you want copied, to a system with a enough space, or a second blank drive.
    Copy it. ;)
Not completely understanding the original question led me to my previous post.
Here's how to completely copy one drive to another:
If you have Ghost, use it.
If you have Drive Image, use it.
Go get xxcopy from www.xxcopy.com and use the /clone switch.
If you don't have either, and don't want to pay, you could try the tools that are free for download on all the major hard drive manufacturer's websites.

If you want to do it with Win98:
Install the second drive in the computer.
    Boot to safe mode.
Copy (drag and drop in Explorer) EVERYTHING from C to the second drive, EXCEPT, the recycle bin, and the Windows folder.
Make a folder on the second drive, called "Windows ".
Copy everything from C:\windows to the second drive Windows folder, EXCEPT win386.swp
    Shutdown.
Remove the C drive, and mount the second drive as C.
Boot to a good startup diskette.
    Run fdisk.
Do not mess with partitions, just make the primary partition active.
    Run fdisk /mbr
    Run SYS c:
Mount it back as slave (or wherever) and reinstall the C drive.
You now have an identical clone.

If you want to do it with 2K/XP:
    Procedure above is identical, except...
Do not drag/drop the recycle bin, the pagefile.sys, nor the SystemRestore folder.
Instead of booting to a startup diskette for the last portion of the procedure, boot instead to the XP or 2k CD, and select "Repair console ".
    At the prompt, type: fixmbr
    At the prompt, type: fixboot
