hello, just recently, I found this error on my pc, saying

( "Windows Disk Diagnostic detected a S.M.A.R.T. fault on disk WDC WD800BB-00JHC0 ATA Device (volumes E:\). This disk might fail; back up your computer now. All data on the hard disk, including files, documents, pictures, programs, and settings might be lost if your hard disk fails. To determine if the hard disk needs to be repaired or replaced, contact the manufacturer of your computer. If you can't back up (for example, you have no CDs or other backup media), you should shut down your computer and restart when you have backup media available. In the meantime, do not save any critical files to this disk. ")

it keeps popping up, and every time I open my pc I always get the message that one of my hdd has a bad sector, when I run the chkdsk command no bad sector is found, I also run the error-checking and the result finds no error, how could it be? and yet the message always popping up and showing the warning on POST, somebody advice me. thanks

Although there are pieces of software which would claim to repair bad sectors these are somewhat dubious IMO. You cannot expect software to repair hardware - the least they may be able to do is to recover some data from the bad sector, which is basically an imperfection on the disk surface.

The warning which you note in your first post should be heeded - depending on how the bad sector came about may dictate the remaining life of the drive.

To be safe maintain a current back up the drive and replace it as soon as you can.

Not fix it, but if you do a low level disk format using the software from the manufacturer, the bad sector would be marked as unavailable, and your disk would 'appear' to be fine again.

Most hard disks have some 'spare' capacity that would be used at that time to make up for the loss of some bad sectors.

But if the disk is > 5 years old I'd trash it and get a new drive, you wouldn't know when you get more bad sectors showing up.
