    Hello
    I have a windows xp home machine that will not boot. Hangs while loading the driver gagp30kx.sys and reboots. I booted to a PE Builder disk and renamed and replaced this file with no luck...same thing.
    So I was just going to do a repair however the setup looks for a existing windows installation but I don't think it finds it for some reason.
    I just get the option to setup windows on the existing partition.

    Any ideas.

    Corrupted registry

    I am sure that it is a corrupted registry. Last Know did not work of course.
    I can boot with a Barts boot disk. What I want to do is copy hives from the windows\repair to windows\system32\config but this is an oem version and I read this would not work. I wanted to get to safe mode so that I could use the system restore.
    So basically I need to be able to repair my registry enough to get into safe mode to do a system restore.
    I was able to catch this error before it rebooted.
    c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
    Any ideas?
    I can do a parallel install but I would like to repair this if possible.
    Actually, I stuck an old hard drive in and reintalled windows xp with no trouble.
    Thanks in advance!
