This is a super stumper, have a Panasonic PIII laptop, had NT Workstation. Went with 2K upgrade option. All went well until GUI reboot, it just hangs at the W2K splash screen at about 75%. It won't boot off the cd or I would delete the current partition, format and retry.

The laptop uses a swappable cd/floppy drive and I don't have a floppy drive. My cd is bootable and works well, in fact has worked well on same laptops. The cd is first in the BIOS to boot off of, I did check that.

    Any suggestions?

    TIA

I don't have any info on "fixing" your problem. If you want to start over again, I would suggest first getting your hands on a different bootable cd to make sure it still boots from the cd properly. Maybe a win98 cd and reformat if it boots. Then try again.

This is going to sound wierd, but I have the same problem and it works for me...

Right after it freezes, try unplugging and plugging it back in. Or just start the boot with the plug out and plug it in when it freezes. It only works about every third time for me, but at least it will boot.

I've put my boot into SOS mode and it seems to be happening after W2K recognizes my processor and memory, but before it says "checking drive c: ". The good news is that after a couple successful boots, the problem will go away for a while.

    I can't recall how I fixed the problem, sorry : )
I may have done a reinstall with floppies though.
