Group Policy is only available on XP-Pro. If you have that, READ THIS for some good insight into the process.

Yes i am using XP-Pro. I am aware of editing in group policy. My only concern is to have a user for my System with very limited access. I thought of creating a new user and editing Group policy from that login and limit the access only for that user

Creating a new user account is fine. Editing it from within itself to limit access isn't possible. You'll have to log on as an Administrator to do that.

One thing you must verify. You must disable Simple File Sharing in order to set individual permissions.

From that point you should be able to customize the system settings for each user profile separately.

    SOME READING HERE MAY HELP

It seems you are having trouble figuring out how to use the XP-Pro system tools to accomplish your goals. I must admit it can be confusing.

There is an easier way and it works with XP-Pro and Home both. It's provided by MicroSoft. It's called Windows Steady State. It makes for a much easier way to set up Restricted Accounts. Get It Here. I think it may be just what you need.
