I swear Mr. Outlook made this almost impossible on purpose!

    Using Outlook Express 6 [6.00.2900.2180 (xpsp_sp2...)]

I'd like to write an e-mail to mass mail to all my contacts (using BlindCC: to not spread everyone's addresses all over the i-net); with the ability to save and then edit/add to the basic draft to customize the message to small groups.

    I *thought* the Draft folder would be the logical place to store the basic draft, then call it up, edit it, possibly RE-save it as a modified draft;
    and then SEND it.

Sure doesn't seem to work that way!
I can compose, and then "move" the piece to the Draft Folder ...
but the Draft folder will NOT let me edit, add to, nor even send the saved e-mail.

I searched and found a 2007 discussion with this "solution" >>>

This seemingly idiotic and round-about method actually WORKS ...
but there MUST be a more logical and direct way of doing this (he said, hopefully).

Has anyone discovered a more direct method - involving fewer steps -
    to use the Draft folder?

I can't (or don't want to) believe that saving, later editing, and sending a
e-mail draft has to be so complicated.

Have you tried going to Edit and Move to Folder and then call it back up and do what you want to do. I just tried it and it works fine that way.

I start a new message...type some stuff...FILE SAVE automatically puts it n the Draft folder...I can then open it and add to it as often as I want. When done, I click the send button.

This works, but with a little "problem" ...

BUT ... even if you have no intention of "sending" the draft message ...
the Outlook Express WILL send out any and ALL "Draft" folder messages
(that have not previously been sent)
during the next "send/receive" session ... ready or not, ALL the Draft messages get sent AND are then removed from the Draft folder. :(

    Nope Not True.

If you do a File->Save - it'll sit in the Draft folder till you manually open the mail and click the send button.

PS. File->Save does not force you do add a TO person....so it can't send out;)

    You are correct, Steve.
But that makes it difficult to use the Draft folder
    as a long-term storage location ...

But WAIT >>> There's more to this Tail >>>

By Golly, NOW he's Plunked the Magic Twanger! ;)

THAT's the Secret to a successful "DRAFT" save ---
SAVE the rough Draft without filling in ANY addresses ...

And that saved Draft will hang around forever!

    NICE Observation, Steve!
