My Radeon 3650 PCI e x16 apparently has died. Trying to find a replacement card. Mine is only 5 in wide with a HDMI and DVI. All of the ones I see at Best Buy, etc have a VGA added as well, making them like 7 or 8 in wide. How do I find a narrower one that will fit my 5 in slot?

Not sure what you are talking about. Graphics cards MUST comply with industry standards.

Do you have a slim case?

You say "wide ", I wonder if you mean length? That is, from the back bracket to the end that extends into the middle of the computer. Some cases can restrict that too, but generally it is still more than 5 inche.

You need to tell us your case and motherboard.

IMG_1270.JPG Typical Dell win 7 desktop. The slots in the back plate are 5 in wide. What you see from looking at the back of the comp. Where you plug the HDMI cable heading to the monitor. Not talking about internal measurements at all. Its the XPS 420 Dell. It has a folding flap that restricts the slots to the 5 in.

Look like normal expansion slots to me. Remember, the empty slot covers and the cards are removed and inserted from inside the case.

The slots are 5 in. That little door flap to the left gets in the way where most graphics cards have a VGA plug next to the HDMI and dvi plugs.

I don't know what you are expecting me to say. You can keep saying 5 in and I will keep saying they look like normal slots to me. That little door flap has nothing to do with the size of the card. You need to look inside the computer where a card will be inserted into a PCIe slot.

As far as VGA plug being next to HDMI and DVI - all cards are different. Many, like this, no longer have VGA anymore because most monitors support digital.

Then don't close the door! It will hurt nothing to leave it opened. The problem is not the card, the problem is the goofy case design. Components are standardized, cases are not necessarily standardized, esp some Dell cases.

You can get another Radeon 3650. Even w/next day shipping it's probably cheaper than anything at Best Buy!
