Is there a way of erasing all of "Google's Desktop Searches" memory of past items and start all over. I tried deleting a page of returns at a time but that could take all day, besides you would have to come up with all the possible keywords necessary and that would be impractical if not impossible. I run Clean Cache, but that doesn't clear those files or Google's search history although that can be erased easily enough from the Google toolbar.
There must be someway to clear the cache and start over with a new database of items, but I cant find it, if not it would be an intruders or the Feds dream.

There is a drop down beside the google search window. Scroll down to clear history.

Sorry Bill, close but no cigar. I'm talking about the new "Google Desktop Search" tool, not the Google toolbar. I know how to clear the search history on the toolbar, but that does nothing for Desktop searches as that finds every web page URL, document etc you've ever went too and recalls it when you search for keywords.
I hope I was able to explain it better this time.
Thanks for any help in advance.

I dug deep enough and found the answer in Google's desktop search help. The dat is stored here. You can find it at C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Google Desktop Search.
I deleted all those files and it worked, but of course it immediately starts building a new database.
I'm guessing somebody like the RIAA would love people that have this thin on the computer.
Oh well, thats for another day.
    Thanks all.

    My bad.

I had not heard of the Google Desktop Search. Sounds like a good idea combining computer search with web search. It uses indexing but only indexes while the computer is idle for 30 seconds. Not suppose to slow the computer down as windows indexing does.

I use Agent Ransack for my computer searches which is much better than the built in search function.

Isn't it funny (odd) that we pay a large price for an operating system with all the extras built in and then turn them all off and use third party stuff such as Google, Agent Ransack, Mozilla, Firefox, Thunderbird, Firewall, etc., etc..

Keep in mind, Floyd, that stuff is never really "gone" until it's been overwritten a few times... unless you delete something really important, by accident, then it's gone forever! :D
