    Hello all!

Yesterday, I caved in and installed Google Earth. It is going to be used at the World Gliding Championships 2006 and I simply had my arm twisted behind my back. I had to learn the basics.

Today, I learned more than I needed. It seems like Google Earth does not go well with non-english versions of the OS.

The first issue was when I changed from DirectX mode to OpenGL mode and back, just to test: It cleared my cookies and I had to relog in on every site that requires it. It also cleared some of the history (recently used links get different colour in web pages).

Next, I found out that it had increased my TIF cache size from a few MB to 368 MB. (That is a setting which can be altered but I didn't expect it to interfere with the TIF cache.) I can no longer clear my TIF cache from the IE control panel.

The reason for this may be that it installed a new folder: C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\GoogleEarth

The localized (swedish) path should be C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Lokala inställningar\... which means that it probably messed up the registry. The TIF folder is in that location.

I don't think that Google Earth will survive the night on my computer but has anyone else noticed the same issues?

    Thanks for your time,
    Christer

I've never had any problems with it. Of course, my XP is an English version. I find the TIF size thing interesting though. The size of mine is set to 10MB and I've never had a problem with it. I use the program quite a bit.

    Zander,
confusing it is but when I reduced the cache in Google Earth from 400 MB (default) to to a few MB, the value in Internet Explorer was reduced too. I could still NOT clear the cache. It has got to do with a conflict between language versions.
