Good Line-In Audio Player?

Hi,

I have a Palm E2 I use as a MP3 player (PocketTunes is cool) but when I'm at my girlfriend house I want to be able to plug the Palm's audio jack (out) into the microphone jack on her Dell notebook and use the speakers in the Dell to listen to the Palm. I have it plugged in but can't get any audio from the mic jack to play on the Dell. Do I need a 3rd party app? Any suggestions?

humm...the mic jack on my old Beige G3 Mac (circa 1997) can be used for either a mic or line-in. I had a FM radio and Sirius Starmate plugged into it for almost 5 years continuously (recording Howard Stern) and its worked fine (these same jacks on the FM radio and Starmate can be used for head phones I believe). I'll have to see how the audio-in jack on my PowerBook (2000, "Pismo ") works with this audio signal...

I would think the IC chip in this Dell should adjust to the signal level being put in. But, I'm no expert on Dells designs....
