Helping a friend with Win 7 and gmail. He was in the program and hit some key and bounced out and password login didn't work. Didn't remember pw and couldn't get in. Took comp to a business and they couldn't help him...and cleared out his old system restore points.
We've now gone in several times to do recovery in gmail and entering as much info as possible - commonly sent emails, etc - and it won't recognize his comp's IP address.
I can't find where pw are saved in IE like they do in Firefox, etc. He had no other email or phone linked to the gmail address as backup. Is he just out of luck? thanks

G-mail is web based mail. Has nothing to do with his PC other than getting in to g-mail from a browser. You just said he couldn't remember password. Have y'all tried can't remember password and see what happens? They are pretty good about helping you.

We went through all of those recovery steps and it won't let him in. It says to use the comp you normally use so apparently they will recognize the IP address and he did and they didn't. Now what? You said they're good at helping. Is there any contact to talk to?

I have checked my G-mail probably from 10 or more PC's in the last few years with no problem.

I've only been using gmail for 3 years and have been able to sort any little hassles out with the system quite easily. Neil.

That's what I'm saying, this isn't sorting out easily if you read my first post. We've tried the recovery steps.

What happens if he enters details for a new account using the gmail account name he had previously? Can he the click Forgot Password? Neil.

Just wondered whether the "address" would be recognized and would then offer the Forgotten Password option. Otherwise I have no further ideas. Neil.

Has nothing to do with his comp's IP address. I sometimes take my laptop when I go out of town and use hotspots or the Motel/Hotel that I am staying in WIFI. Never had a problem with getting into any of my several g-mails at all.
