For the past month I have been monitoring / installing free programs from GiveAwayOfTheDay website. Every 24 hours a new "Pro" version program is offered free. It includes full licensing and so far has always been the companies current release. The following rules apply to all programs provided .....
The program is provided in a zip file. I have a special folder on my desktop where I move this zip file to for install launches (I delete the contents of this folder after successful install - but I normally wait a day). When expanded, it contains 4 files. Open the "Read Me" file which provide the install instructions. They generally read as follows ....
That's it. Over the past month I've installed 3 programs. Just be aware of the rules ... MUST be installed during the 24 hour offer window, NO support, NO free updates, NO re-installs after the 24 hour offer window (yes, if included in an image backup, no problem). Today's offer (1-23-07) is System Safety Monitor, which I do not plan to install, but you may appreciate this program. Below the download link you will see comments posted by folks who have downloaded "today's" program. On the bottom, "Lower Right" of the screen you will find an "Archive" where you can see other programs (no longer available for free) which were offered. On the top "right corner of the page you will see a link for the same offer for GamesOfTheDay ", which I've never used ... my kids say most are lame games (their opinion)... but you may enjoy some.... can't beat the price. And for what I've downloaded, have been scumware clean.

    Hi Dennis,

Great find - nice :) I'll keep my eye out.

The non re installation issue is potentially a big problem. But can't beat the price.

    Regards - Charles

Today's free program may have interest to some readers ...
    StarPort Professional + Grab&Burn package
Today's download includes a 2nd program, Grab&Burn package, which supports all types of optical storage media (including CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, BD-R/RE, HD-DVD-R/RW and DVD-RAM) and supports a wide variety of CD/DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD burning hardware.

I am not installing, more than I need. StarrPort runs 32/64 bit, IPsec encryption for secure tunneling. Not sure if either program is Vista compliant. When you follow the provided link, read the comments from other users.
