I have been using a various number of software programs trying to convert VTS VOB files to be able to play on a stand alone DVD player without success.

They will play on my PC but not on my DVD.

Your DVD player must support DVDR or DVDRW disks. Most DVD players made in the last 5 years support DVDR, some also support DVDRW.

Most burning software has support to create DVDs on the fly and will convert the video to VOB. Nero does this.

The DVD player in question does support both single and dual layer so no problem there.
I have tried Nero 10 but ran into problems there with the DVD conversion option.
I have had these VTS VOB files converted to MPEG11 but they fail to play also.

Each of the conversions have played on my PC but not on my DVD.
I am not convinced that the DVD player is the problem but rather the type of file necessary !!!
Yes I might be totally ignorant of this issue...granted..that's why I am here after successive failures

You will have a VIDEO_TS file that you are trying to burn to a DVD, this file is a mirror image of a video DVD. This type of file needs to be burned as an image so it will not work if you are trying to convert it. Nero 10 Burning Rom would have done this kind of operation but if you have been trying to burn it as a DVD video that would explain why it has failed.

This link will give you instructions and free software to burn the image file that you have.

Good luck and if you get stuck post for help.
