On startup, it tells me my wingate license has expired. I never installed this, so it must have piggybacked on some other program. It's not in the add/remove programs list, the program files folder, or the startup tab of msconfig. There are no files on disk or registry entries called wingate. How do I get rid of it?

Downloading and installing then uninstalling a fresh copy of Wingate didn't help.

Wingate.exe is getting some bad press nowadays. It could one of a few things. You may have the Lovegate virus.
    Housecall, online AV scan
    AVG AV for free
It may be setup to run as a tag along with a registered file type in your registry. But, let's wait until you have done the scan.

    Perhaps more than that.

Better read this thread and specifically Alice's and my posts. Search for "Login Service" in the registry (no quotes)!

AVG found a trojan called Dropper.Delt.AT in windows/system/snd32.exe. It said the file was successfully healed, but the file seems to have disappeared from that directory alltogether.

"Login Services" does not appear in the registry.

It no longer displays the wingate license message at startup.

I did all of the NSClean cleanups you listed.

Spybot S&D found four things: Alexa related, DSO exploit, radiate, and WMP client ID, all of which I told it to fix. Then I immunized.

Is the free version of ZoneAlarm a good enough firewall?

Why was BillyBob's cabletech guy glad he wasn't using NAV?

ZoneAlarm free can be a good firewall, for some people it does cause problems. Version 2.6 is considered to be the best free version of it. I use Kerio Personal Firewall, it uses less resources, though ZA is easier to setup. I didn't use the Mailsafe feature of ZA.
Both of them control what can get in and get out of your system. They cause your computer to be stealthed to the internet. This means if someone does a port scan on your computer, your computer does not respond to it, as if it doesn't exist.
Apparently certain versions of Norton causes problems with cable modems, I don't have either so I really can't say. AVG is a very good AV program, recommended by many here. A second opinion by Housecall is always a good idea.

I have NAV 2003 OEM version 9.00.67 and a cable modem.

I downloaded and installed the housecall setup program, but it keeps telling me I don't have the require components installed and tells me to download the setup again. I'm using Netscape 6.2.

    From here;

Why is "Scan for Viruses" only available to Internet Explorer users?
Trend Micro HouseCall is a fast, lightweight and self-updating online scanner. It uses Microsoft Internet Explorer to push ActiveX controls to the client to perform virus scanning. Currently, Netscape doesn't support ActiveX controls.

I looked at this page and didn't seem to find any that would support Netscape.

    This page (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp) says:
"To use HouseCall, you will need either Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 4.0 or above) or Netscape Navigator (version 3.01 or above)."

Anyway, I downloaded the trial version of Pc-cillin and it didn't find anything.

That's good news that you came up clean.
I have learned that Housecall flip flops on Netscape, the link in my previous post also says that Macintosh and Netscape browsers are not supported in the current release. I don't know what gives here.
We know it didn't work for you.
