In win98 there was a reg tweak for getting rid of the words "shortcut to" for every shortcut made. The same tweak doesn not seem to work with XP. Is there a another reg tweak for this. Dont want to install tweak XP etc for this.

In Win XP, if you right click on the desktop shortcut, select Properties, then select the General Tab and rename it from "Shortcut to xxxx" to whatever you want to name it and that should do it.:)

You could install PowerToys for XP which allows you to customize.
