Windows asks me twice about my clipboard and once about everything else -- even my email attachments. Is there any way to make it stop try to mother me? It's wearing me out.

Before you get information on how to bypass any warnings...

I don't mind them now. Yes, they are different from what you experienced in Win XP. They remind me to be careful of what I allow to activate on my system.

There are ways to overcome the warnings. I would prefer to think twice about them first.

I don't think my system is very vulnerable, I still appreciate the warning first.

My favorite way to get rid of them, though, is to keep a small FAT32
partition on each of my PCs. All you have to do is either download to the
FAT32 partition or copy the file to the FAT32 partition and then back to your
NTFS preferred location. FAT32 doesn't support ADS so just passing the file
through a FAT32 partition eliminates the prompt forever.

Good article, Pete. Thank you. I guess I need to be more patient = not my strong suit.

Does MAC have warning windows for every little task? My MAC friends act so superior about their computers; I'm wondering if this is one of the reasons...

Can't help you with Mac's - rarely see one - never used one :) The only thing I would say is that with them being less popular in the past the malware artists, hackers, etc did not pay much attention to them. That, I suspect is changing with the increasing popularity of Mac's - as has happened with Firefox.

Yes, Macs have them too (and yes, I have one.. Macbook Pro dual-booting Leopard and XP Pro)

Disable UAC on Vista. The reason is pretty simple. The "warnings" are too generic. I appreciate the idea behind them, but to make them effective they need to give the user more feedback on what the concern is. There also needs to be different levels of UAC, which Windows 7 will provide. Fading the screen and splashing an "Ok" box in your face every five seconds, while giving no specifics, is ok... I guess.. But really rather useless as a security measure, the whole point behind them.

For an inexperienced home user (beginner) it is strongly recommended that UAC be enabled. As stated in Arie's HelpWithWindows article to which I referred earlier .....
