this has been started before but the one I found via google was started so long ago it was difficult to wade through all the messages and log files.

I am on a newer computer running win xp /sp2 - just as I had been on the old computer (which had been updated from win me). I get this message:
Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

It takes time to kick in from several minutes to over an hour or more and does not ALWAYS occur. Generic Host Process is related to the networking part of windows that allows accessing the internet. I discovered this when I had my firewall block it because I did not know what it was and then I could not get online.

One of the affects of this error is that after disconnect, it leaves my dialup connection apparently ALWAYS ON and my modem in an indeterminate state forcing a reboot to get online.

I hope this message posts as I just got that error again.
