The following message appears when copying and pasting addresses into the IE address bar:

EXPLORER caused a general protection fault
    in module USER.EXE at 0003:00001022.

    Stack dump:

and then it says this program has preformed an illegal operation and will be shut down

And of course it shuts down. System is running Windows 98 and the latest IE (the problem occurred before updating IE) and all updates have been d/l and installed.

I looked at several MS articles in the knowlege base but could not find any specific to this problem. What needs to be done to correct this. If it is a registry problem can you reinstall over 98 just to replace corrupt files without losing any other data?

Tho' the error message is different, suggest you try the steps described here. If that doesn't help, pay a visit to this page.

    Good luck!
