Gecko 1.9 to Drop Windows 9X/ME Support
    Friday June 9th, 2006
There are some interesting comments following Gervase Markham's statement on his Blog: Dropping Windows 9X/ME support from Firefox 2.

As a Windows 98SE user, this doesn't concern me, as I do plan to upgrade with Windows Vista OS, on its release in early 2007. Rest assured Mozilla isn't going to throw Windows98/98SE users to the wind now, and Firefox 3. based on Gecko 1.9, isn't in the running until 2007.

There is a very spirited discussion re: Bye, Windows 98 going on over in Mozilla Land.

That's alright. IE6 SP1, Opera 8.54 and Lynx 2.8.3 run just fine on my 98SE setup. I haven't had any security issues with them.
