I recently purchased 5 PC Adventure Games. When I tried to install each of them, 3 would not install, 2 installed with no problems. Not only would the 3 games not install, but I could not find any files on them with windows explorer.

I took the 3 game disks and loaded them on my sister's computer running Vista. The files were there and I could have installed them.

Thinking that my DVD/CD-RW device might be faulty, I borrowed another DVD/CD-RW player and installed it on my computer. When I tried to install the games again, same result: no installation, no files on disk.

I tried disabling my antvirus program, thinking that might help -- no luck.
Anybody have any suggestions on why I can install some games and not others.

Is it a difference between a CD disk and a DVD disk?

Yes, the three games that wouldn't install were on DVD disks. The front of my CD drive shows that it is DVD ROM as well as CD RW. Also, when I click on MY Computer in XP it shows it as a DVD/CD-RW drive.

It is possible that your drive has failed - DVD/CD-Rom drives utilise 2 lasers, one for CD, the other for DVD.

Does the drive read other DVD's? If not it is most likely broken.
