When I say it won't open, I mean right. It opens in a page of jumbled letters and caricatures with some readable address. I have been working on this several day with no success. I made sure I didn't have Google Desktop, I went to My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > File types > highlighted EML Internet E-Mail Message > Advanced > click on open > Edit > Removed and Put back ( "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /eml:%1). I've run SFC /scannow. None of this helped. My wife can receive the same file on our net work and her laptop will open.
I have XP Home SP2 and kept up all the updates. I run IE 7, OE 6, and Foxfire. I have tried other thing that I can't remember and nothing has worked. I do have old eml files saved as name.eml and they open in OE just fine. This may have started around the time I installed Pinnacle Studio, but not sure. I'm at my roads end. Help would sure be appreciated.

May have it working again. I exported all of my deleted and sent email to separate folders and cleaned out some of my Inbox after reading about folder sizes causing problems. So far it has opened forward attached emls, although haven't received one with an attached WMV or PPS in the attached forward. I have a feeling it will work now.

Yes, the theoretical folder size in OE is 2 Gb, but OE plays funny long before then. I would look to a 500Mb limit, possibly 1Gb to stay out of trouble.
