I read that a hub shares all the bandwith among the ports, whereas, a switch maintains say a 10mbps or 100mbps speed at each port.

I'm curious whether a hub would allow 100mbps upstream to port 1, and then 100mbps speed downstream to port 2. Or would the 100mbps be split into 50mbps for each port?

    Full speed on each port.

A hub sends all traffic to all ports since it does not know what PC is connected there. A switch "learns" which NIC is connected to each port and only sends traffic for that NIC to that port. All other traffic is blocked, except for broadcasts which go to all ports.
