I need full admin for some of my programs to run. I know how to change it, but it says that I already do have full admin. Does anyone know how I can fix this so that I do have the proper admin rights? I'm running Windows XP Home edition service pack 1. Thx.

Hate to bring this up again, but It didn't work. I couldn't seem to get the messages to pop up that they said should pop up. I don't know if I did it right. Does anyone else have any other solutions?

I think it would help us to know specifically which programs you are having difficulty with, and what messages you think you should be seeing, but aren't.

Well, some of my games aren't working (I'm 13 and on my mother's account here) such as The Sims2, and a lot of games out will have this problem. They won't run if You don't have proper admin rights on your computer, and what happens, is that An "unspecified error" will pop up. I'm also big on computer safty and "Computer Management ", and a lot of top notch programs such as Diskeeper will not run, because it won't let you add to the Computer Services list because u don't have sufficent rights. Now, if I go into Profile Management, it says that this account has full admin. I don't believe that "Taking Ownership" of the files will work because The "Computer Management" Programs aren't even installed, therefore, I cannot take ownership of them, and because when I took ownership of my EA Games folder, (Thats the folder that my Sims2 game is in) it didn't work. Do you think updating to Windows XP SP_2 would help? I really don't want to update becasue I like the layout of SP_1 and haven't heard too many people who are happy with SP_2. Thx for sticking tru this with me, and plz tell me what you think will help.

You should definetly update to WinXP SP2. I upgraded and didnt notice any difference in the "layout ", other than my control panel was in "Windows Classic" mode. Also, do you know how to boot into safe mode with the Admin account? do that, and create yourself an account and choose "computer administrator" on the second page of the New User Wizard. That should do it, if not, post back soon.
