The title pretty much sums it up but I have an FTP site that I created in My Network Places that allows me to browse my FTP server thru Windows Explorer by using a single click link. A nice feature of Windows.

Only problem is that the little bugger comes back everytime I reboot the computer. It's making me crazy.

    try this:

After deleting the listing for that location in Network Places, open internet options and delete history. History retains a record of typed urls. (Typed urls of ftp sites auto get added to network places.)

    Also, try this:
Open Folder Options\View Tab and uncheck 'Auto search for Network Folders and Printers'

    Also:
The Netcrawl items are stored here in the registry:
    Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\NetCrawl\Shares

    NetCrawler:
The net crawler allows users who may be unfamiliar with networking to have easy, automatically configured access to computers in their workgroup.

The net crawler runs in the following situations:
Just after startup (after the system becomes available).
When you open My Network Places.
When you click F5 in My Network Places.

Applies to WinME, but probably to 2k & xp as well:
Shortcuts for resources are removed after seven days. The following registry keys maintain the age of a share or printer:

    For shares:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Netcrawl\Shares\sharepath\DateLastedVisited

You can also prevent these recent shares from being auto added to network plavces:
    http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/1045/

And then if need a shortcut to a share, create it & keep it elsewhere, as in a start menu Programs folder, desktop, quik launch, etc.

Better late than never I suppose. I tried both tricks and it worked.

No more blasted FTP shortcut. Thanks

LOL. This is like when the mailman delivers a letter mailed months ago! Glad it worked!
