    Hi all

does the "FSD5000" card really exist? or is it a misprint for a F5D5000?

I know there are masses of Google hits for a FSD5000; but I haven't been able to find it at the Belkin site

so, would like to ask:- are all the references to FSD5000 "cloned" typoes? or if the FSD5000 really does exist, who makes it pls?

    TIA & best wishes, HJ

    Hiya HJ,

A little confused. You have a card that has what could possibly be one of those model numbers and it does not have a brand name on it?

There certainly seems to be a Belkin NIC with that model number, trouble is, any manufacturer can use any model numbering system, so that may be the model number for any other type of hardware as well.

If it is a NIC it is probably the Belkin, if I get time I will see if I can find it at Belkin. Are you looking for the drivers?

    Hi Matt

I'm after some NICs, the F5D5000 would do very nicely.

The distributor I want to use (Farnell, now called CPC) has NICs which they are calling a Belkin FSD5000 (they do say Belkin) - but everything else fits with a F5D5000. So I'm wondering whether CPC (and half the rest of the internet ! it would seem) is making "cloned" typoes, because I cannot find a FSD5000 at the Belkin site

Might go to a different distributor though, because after I posted I've found a 5pk of F5D5000 at a nice price somewhere else

But I would still like to know whether the FSD5000 really exists !

    best wishes, HJ

I see. Can you find the F5D5000 model at Belkin?

Recently I tried to identify a piece of hardware. I got similar results. The reason was that the printing on the card was small and the S or the 5 could not be distinguished. Half said one, half the other. Maybe it is a misreading, rather than a typo.

yes, I can find the F5D5000 at Belkin, using the same search box which doesn't find FSD5000 - reckon you must be right about people mistaking the 5 for a capital S, 'tis easily done...

...but another little query has cropped up. At Belkin there are several sub-species of the NIC. I can find a F5D5000uk and an F5D5000au, for example.

(although searching for "F5D5000uk" gives no hits, it's one of the results I get when searching for the F5D5000. The other result is the 5pk of F5D5000 only without any letters after the part number  )

what, I wonder, is country-specific about a NIC? Might it just be to do with "approvals" (UL, CE etc.) ? Or maybe the packaging - boxed up differently ? Do they actually print the price on the box maybe ? (seems unlikely)

Or something country-specific to do with the actual operation of the card ?

    best wishes, HJ.
