My laptop (windows ME) won't boot up. When I try to statr it I get a message ststing that "cndninst has caused an error in <unknown>. cmdninst will now close" then the computer freezes. Pushing ctrl-alt-del brings up task manager with cmdninst as the only choice. I end the task and the computer freezes. I have to hold the power button to shut it down. The unit will start in safe mode. No recently installed software. Any suggestions?

I have tried three restore points and each time I get the "cmdninst has caused an error in <unknown>. cmdninst will now close" and then nothing, I have to shut down through task manager

The last new software installed was Broderbund Home Architect 3d v. 5.1. It was installed 3 days prior and had run fine through 5 or 6 sessions. Just prior to the difficulties i experienced the blue screen stating there was an issue I believe with the CD, though i am not sure.

I have run run msconfig and deselected subs, although i did them all at once, i was following instructions from the windows me help and support wizard.

    Help
