Have used various versions of frontpage for a few years, now have FP 2000.

Recently when I try to import a web or to create a new web I get a message saying "Unable to open service.lck file"
Once the dialogue box is acknowledged, the web import/create closes with nothing happening.

There is no service.lck in my installation anywhere, not sure if there should be or where it should be or what sort of file it is.

    Any ideas folks ?

    Cheers

I think it's part is generating(?) one of the folders for FP2000 this particular one is for the "vti_pvt" folder. Others involved in FP2000 are the "image ", "_private ", etc.

So it would appear that somewhere in your Installation of FP2000 there may be corrupt file, so I would suggest that you click on the "help" in FP2000 and select "Detect and Repair ". You'll need to install the CD to do a complete Repair.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for that. I suspect you are right. I haven't actually fixed the problem but I did find a work around which more or less confirms what you say.

I created another web structure on the local disk and that works fine so there must be a corruption in the original.

I did try the detect and repair but that didn't touch the folder structure so the problem still exists in the old but I can rebuild it and delete the corrupt one.

Thanks and cheers from DownUnder :D

Thanks for the reply. Glad you got it fixed.

I agree & it seems to me that this statement verifies it.
