I am trying to figure out how to get my mic working properly, right now I have it so it works but when I talk into the mic it plays through the speakers. My question is are the connections wrong or is the problem something else.

The connections on the computer are
    Mic in
    Mic Pwr
    Ground

The connections on the motherboard are
    Audio Mic
    Audio Mic Bias
    Ground

I might not be reading your question correctly, but it seems you are trying to record from the microphone.
    Win 98 Help says this:
If you can hear the sound coming through the speakers, it seems to be connected properly, you just have to start your recording program (there are also free recording programs that should be a lot better than Windows sound recorder, try www.majorgeeks.com )

Hope I've read your question correctly.

Well I am trying to use this for a internet voice chat setup for gaming, but everything I say in the mic comes back through the speakers directly so as I am talking, at the same time it is being played through the speakers. I am running xp and this happens all the time no matter what Is open.
