    Hi all,

I have an eOpen license for Windows XP and on that download site was an XP with SP3 ISO image. So I downloaded it and created the CD.

Booted up and installed XP. But during the install, on three separate occasions, it asked me for the SP3 media. Obviously, I didn't have separate media so I couldn't do that... I simply canceled each one of those messages and Windows continued to install just fine.

But when I got in finally, nothing, and I mean nothing works. There are only 4 services started and I cannot manually start most of them. All the devices show up as working, but none of them really do. For example, I cannot connect to any kind of network. The CMD line says the RPC server is unavailable.

I have run a chkdsk. I have reinstalled SP3 manually. No change.

I have never seen Windows act like this. Help?! Thanks!

    Chris

hello WorldBuilder. Could it be that copy is corrupt or maybe illegal? I have XP Home with SP3 from a purchased OEM disk. Installed like a charm with no hangups. Never even heard of eOpen. What is that?

    hrlow2 -

A quick Google would have saved you some embarrassment :)

Hardly an illegal copy ..... eOpen - Microsoft’s eOpen licensing/download site
