Hi, i had problems with my laptop therefore i wiped and attempted a clean install. However when the setup reaches the installing devices step, it freezes with about 34 minutes to go. The screen also flashes with black and white lines at this point. I have rebooted many times and the problem still persists.

I checked the logs and the problem seems to occur when the display adapter is being installed. Due to the fact that its a laptop, the graphics card (its a mobility 10 radeon 9600 64mb) cannot be removed. I attempted to run device manager through devmgmt.msc command however the microsoft management console would not run. Is there anyway to bypass the graphics card during the install? Or install the drivers for the card so that the xp setup will not freeze?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The model of the laptop is acer aspire 1501LCe, athlon 64 3000.

Hi, thanks for all those links. I checked them out and the problem is the graphics adapter on my laptop. It says to remove the hardware in the article but since its a laptop i can't get to the graphics card. Is there anything i can do?
