Looking for a stand alone freeware program that will allow me to encrypt text.
Do not want to use PGP

We need a real simple app

    Like this http://www.dinofilias.com/encrypt.htm
    but not web based.

    Any ideas??

Thanks - but thats not what I want to do.

I want to encrypt plain text for email - not encrypt folder contents.

JUST like the web page I posted does, but I want a stand alone program.

It should work independant of whatever email client we use. It should function as the example I showed on the web page, but we want it not web based - we want it a stand alone app.

But to answer your question, one person uses gmail, one uses Outlook Express, one uses Outlook and one used Courier.

Already tried many apps that were located with google and other search engines.

We do not want to use PGP because 90% of the group just learned how to use a computer! They fear public/private keys - etc etc. Trust me, these people are technically challaged. Copy and Paste is a project :)

theMezz--Encryption is not easy. And, of course, the receiving party has to know how to unencrypt.
Did you find anything in the suggestions offered in my earlier post?
If not, what is the purpose of the encryption?

    Let me try to explain.

    Look at http://www.dinofilias.com/encrypt.htm

I want a program that does the same thing.

By program - I mean something two or more people can download and install on their computers, The program should do the same thing as http://www.dinofilias.com/encrypt.htm

We want the de/encryption program to reside on the end users computers not on a web site.

Yes I tried google. Yes I download and tested 12-15 programs and none work like that web site works.

I understand that whoever gets an encrypted message needs to decrypt it.

I do not want it intergrated with an email client because the group uses various email programs - some web based and some not web based.

I need a simple app because most group members are not technically skilled enough to handle PGP or use Hushmail.

I want then to be able to type text into a window and then enter a password and click a button and have the text either encrypt or decrypt. Then they can copy and paste what they have to into or from whatever email window they have to. (just like the web site I keep referring to does)

    thanks
