I've been noticing occasional slowdowns in my internet connection (not only the usual Firefox, but in other browsers as well). I looked into my Task Manager and saw that the Free ram was in single digits. Screenshot here. Now I've read that Available ram is just that, available---but would a problem with loading a webpage be connected to a very low amount of Free ram? Those tabs in the background were taking over a minute to load at this point. It wasn't just one browser, so I don't think it was a Firefox problem. I've noticed this happening every once in a while, not just today.

Or are these two things totally unrelated?

Have you tried rebooting when this happens and see what happens?
Usually when I have a problem like that which is very seldom, I will shut everything down. Wait a minute than turn on the modem first and let it settle down for about a minute, then do the router the same way, then the PC.

If you have a modem/router built into one unit, just wait a minute while the lights all settle down.

I also go to Tools/Delete Browsing History and have a check in all the boxes except Cookies and Passwords. I do this every night when I am finished with the PC. I also have 3rd party cookies blocked. I use nothing but IE.

You could also have some malware on there that is trying to access the net and eating up your bandwidth.

Pete's link doesn't work for me.

Paul - the screen shot you posted also show 5gigs available... You might try unplugging the modem/router for a full five minutes.

Our router is the cheapest wireless we could find. It often overheats, even though I have it elevated above the ground.

OK I "ll reboot it, or both modem and router, when this happens.

Thanks and i "ll report back if this doesn't do it.
